Passion and struggle explains the road to Twitch Affiliate then on to Twitch Partner. Remember you just hit “New Game” on what you want to do in life. There will be plenty of ups and downs. Being a part time or full time streamer is not as easy as it looks, but I will give you some Kismet tips to speed you along the path. But I still do not have a sub button or the setting for it in my dashboard. I tried submitting a ticket and got a generic response saying they are not taking any tickets right now. There have been streamers who received their affiliate status after me who have their sub buttons already. 'This woman is a problem because she's showing too much cleavage' — Twitch streamer Kaceytron speaks out against sexism. The sub button was completely gone, and there was never any reason. (Not an affiliate link). Then click the button/switch that says. As your channel grows and reaches double digits concurrent viewers you can work your way to become a Twitch Affiliate. If you do not currently meet these qualifications, you should consider the Affiliate program, obtainable through the Path to Affiliate Achievement. You can also learn more about how to grow on Twitch via Creator Camp, the go-to strategy guide for all things Twitch.
Live streaming on Twitch should always be fun and enjoyable first and foremost. But the fact is, everyone would love to earn a few extra dollars while their at it.
A lot of streamers will say they have no interest in earning an income on Twitch and I'm cool with that. But I say, if you are putting in the work and your content is high-quality, then you should have no qualms about monetizing your stream.
In 2016, there are several ways to monetize that go beyond donations and subscriptions. And this is great, because only 1% of all broadcasters are partnered yet there is a huge percentage of people that produce high-quality content that deserve to earn something for their time.
This post will outline some of the more prominent options you have as well as some more obscure ones.
Sub Button Alternatives
This is one of the most important aspects of monetization for non-partners. Here are some options to tide you over until you have that elusive purple button.
Patreon
Patreon is basically a sub button alternative. This platform allows you to receive monthly contributions from your fans by setting up your own profile page with rewards. You can set different levels based on the contribution size. Here is a snippet from their website:
“Making ends meet as a creator can be stressful. Revenue from sales, ads, and sponsorships is rarely predictable, and an income that’s consistent month-to-month can seem unattainable. As a creator on Patreon, you can have a source of income you can depend on. Whether it’s per month or per creation, patrons can give you the consistent support you need.”
I think Patreon is a great option for both Twitch partners and non-partners. As well, they only take a 5% cut from your contributions which isn't too bad considering how awesome their platform is.
GameWisp
GameWisp is another sub button alternative but with more integration with Twitch. Unlike Patreon, this platform is designed specifically for Twitch streamers both partnered and non-partnered. You can setup on screen alerts and varying price points as well. GameWisp seems to be growing alongside the community so I would expect them to add more and more features as time goes on.
Affiliate Programs
Affiliate programs are a great way to subsidize your stream. They won't necessarily be stuffing your pockets but can often bring in a nice little monthly sum on top of everything else. Here are some that are being used throughout Twitch but I highly recommend you search for unique affiliate programs that you can exclusively offer your fans as they can often become over saturated and ineffective.
KontrolFreeks – Get your own unique discount code and earn 10% commission on gaming gear.
SteelSeries – Highend Gaming Gear.
Nvidia – High-end Video Cards
Amazon – Post your PC build so people can buy the same parts and you get a commission.
GreenManGaming – Offer games at a discount and earn a commission.
Origin – High-end Gaming PCs
ThinkGeek – Apparel, Toys, Gadgets and more!
AstroGaming – Headsets and audio equipment.
Merito – Help your viewers earn extra cash while they are AFK.
The sun casino. Razer – High-end gamer gear and hardware.
LootScore – Very nice gaming related T-Shirts. Affiliate link here.
Newegg – Get your fans to buy their computer parts through your link and get a commission.
CSGods – CSGO Betting and more.
G2A Goldmine – One of the most popular affiliate programs in the Twitch community.
Kinguin – Nice commission and quick payouts for promoting games, skins and more.
OnlineKeyStore – Keys, Games, Skins etc.
GamesPlanet – Game sales out of the UK.
R2Games – Mobile Games!
StreamAcademy – Help other streamers grow with these courses!
MMOGA – Games, Fifa Coins, Gold, Keys, Skins
LearnTheLeague – A LoL guide with 50% commission
TinyBuild – Indie Games!
GameServers – Game and Voice/Chat Servers Captain jack casino instant play.
BONUS – TreatStream – A fun way for your fans to treat you to food delivery and other gifts
Affiliate programs will always be second to direct contribution (donations and subs) but still play a critical role for those who depend on the income they earn from Twitch.
Some people scoff at affiliate programs especially when everyone starts using the same ones (like G2A and Kinguin) so it is important to stick to just a few and even moreso that you believe and trust the companies you are promoting.
As always, if you have any suggestions, ideas or methods that we missed…post them in the comments and we will add it with a link back to your Twitch stream (include your url). Same goes for any companies that we missed that think they deserve to be on this list!
Stay live,
Twitch Sub Button Requirements
Update: As of June 28 at 11am PDT, Subscriptions are live for Affiliates!
Subscriptions for Affiliates coming this week
For streamers, subscriptions are an important tool to help grow their community and build steady income from their channel. For viewers, subscribing is a rite of passage. When you find that community you can really connect with and a streamer that makes you feel welcome, it’s the natural next step to subscribe and help sustain that community if you are able to. Once you do, you’ve got sub emotes in common with a circle of friends that share the same inside jokes. Subscribing signals to the rest of the community that you are there to stay and makes you part of the streamer’s inner circle. And now you can be one of the first to subscribe to an Affiliate starting this week! If you follow an Affiliate, go to your follows page now, click on their icon, and subscribe!
Affiliates will have access to all subscription options: $4.99, $9.99 and $24.99/month, as well as the Twitch Prime free subscription. They’ll have one sub emote for all subscribers, and two additional slots for $9.99 and $24.99 subs. And just like Partners, Affiliates will be able to offer sub-only chat.
Many Twitch Partners can remember with crystal clarity the first time someone subscribed to them. They talk about how humbled they were that someone was willing to step up and offer ongoing support. Today we congratulate all the Twitch Affiliates who will now have the opportunity to forge those lasting connections with their new subscribers.

Burning Questions:
Q. I’m an Affiliate. How do I upload my sub emote(s)?
A. As soon as your Sub button appears this week, you can upload your emote(s). Go to the Settings tab in your Dashboard, click Emoticons, then Edit, and upload your emoticon in the sizes specified, and then click Save Changes. You can find more details about sub emotes here.
Q. How long will it take for my sub emote(s) to be approved?
Twitch Sub Button Link
A. Review of Affiliate emotes can take up to a week or more, and there may be delays as we work through all the new emotes from tens of thousands of Affiliates. This process cannot be expedited (attempting to do so may, in reality, slow the process down). As well, events and holidays may extend the approval process, so please be patient while waiting for review.
Q. What is my Sub Emote Prefix?
A. It will be autoselected for you based on your Twitch username. You will find it on the emoticon upload page from the Settings tab in your Dashboard.
Q. Can I change my Sub Emote prefix?
A. We are not allowing changes to Affiliate sub emote prefixes at this time.
Q. When is Subscription gifting launching?
A. We’re working hard to deliver this feature as soon as we can!
